Author of prose romance The Countesse of Mountgomeries Urania, the first ever long fiction work by an English woman, pub 1621 (title is , the style of her uncle's Arcadia - her aunt, to whom the earlier book's title refers, had just died 1621 - this title must refer to Susan Vere, wife of her 1° cousin the new E. Montgomery, future 4° E. Pembroke), at the end of Urania is the sonnet sequence Pamphilia to Amphilanthus. She had an unhappy marriage with Sir Robert Wroth. Portrait at Penshurst.
