Profile last modified 27 Aug 2022 | Created 22 Aug 2013

Mary (Warren) Youngs migrated to New England during the Puritan Great Migration (1620-1640).

Mary Warren, widow of Stephen Gardner, married Rev. John Youngs about 1639. Their son Benjamin was born about 1641, as Benjamin Youngs was named as a grandson in the will of Thomas Warren (Mary's father), dated March 4, 1641 ( Julian Calendar date for March 4, 1642 by Gregorian Calendar).

Their second son Christopher, as indicated in her will, was called Christopher Youngs Junior in Southold Town Records. Since his cousin Christopher Youngs was called Senior because he was older by a year or more, his birth recorded in Salem, Massachusetts as Julian Calendar date 2 : 12m : 1643,[1] Gregorian Calendar date 2 February 1644. Christopher Youngs Junior, son of Mary and Rev. John Youngs, was born about 1645. (see Research Notes)

Death and Burial

Her date of death is unknown. She is buried in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery alongside her husband, Rev. John Youngs.

Research Notes

The Selah Youngs source, Youngs Family : Vicar Christopher Yonges, His Ancestors in England and His Descendants in America, contains errors for the fathers of the two Christopher Youngs, Senior and Junior - as documented by Southold Town Records. See the Research Notes in the profile of Christopher Youngs Jr. for revisions to that source..
