Mary de Davenport

Biography

Mary Salemon, daughter of Robert Salemon of Wythington, married Roger Davenport, son of Vivian de Davenport and Beatrix de Hulme 713.,682 (Roger Davenport was born about 1226 in Davenport, Cheshire, England and died about 1291 in Davenport, Cheshire, England 682.)

(Ormerod) With her husband, she had a moiety of Withington, of Tundstede and of Wultroke (Wheltrough).

Children:

1. Peter de Davenport, son and heir, died without issue.
2. Sir Thomas Davenport, Lord of Davenport, living cir. 1280-1320; m. first Agnes de Macclesfield, m. second sometime before 1308, Rosia de Vernon the daughter of Ralph de Vernon and widow of Sir William Brereton.
3. John de Davenport, who married Matilda, daughter of William de Rode, by whom he had issue, Richard Davenport.
4. Ellen Davenport, who was married to William de Burklegh, eldest son of heir of Robert Burkley, Esq., and ancestor of the lords of Burkley.
5. Henry Davenport of Marton, who also had lands in Macclesfield in 1292. He had one son, Roger, who married 1st, Mary, widow of William Mainwaring de Peover; and 2nd, Margaret, widow of Thomas de Swettenham.
