Mathius Theodore Thesen, SV/PROG

Mathias Theodore Thesen was born in Norway on 26 October 1813 and died in the Knysna district on 18.6.1885 was buried at St Peters Anglican Church Plettenberg Bay. Mathias Theodor senior and Hans Adolf Baars Thesen, his son ,were the Captains of the small Baltimore schooner known as Albatros which brought the Thesen family to South africa in 1869 and who settled in Knysna in 1870. They both held Master Mariners tickets.

There is another line of Thesens in South Africa the descendents of Arnt Leonard Thesen (and his family), brother of Mathias Theodore, who were also passengers on the Albatros. Added by EMJ.
