Local Confederate veterans and former members of Morgan's staff selected Matilda Lynch Wither's home 'Sandford Place', located on present-day Sanford Street between Sixth and Seventh Streets in Covington, as the place to show their last respects to the remains of Gen. John Hunt Morgan en route to the final resting place in Lexington. [Covington Journal, April 18, 1868, p. 3]
Her residence on her death certificate was listed as 329 Greenup Street in Covington.
