About Matilda de Bures, of Stoke Neyland
Sir John de Peyton, Knight, of Peyton Hall, died in 1287. He was a Crusader 1270. He married Matilda de Bueriss, sister and heiress of Symond de Notele.
They had children: John, James, Egidia, and. Agnes, who married Robert Gernon.
Sir John De Peyton and his brother Sir Robert de Ufford were signed with the cross with Prince Edward, and on 10th May 1270 received the customary patents of protection from the King to Crusaders during their absence in the Holy Land. (6) Sir John died in 15 Edward I. (1287), when his widow Matilda recovered against Richard dc Spain her dower in Canewdon and Finchingfield in Essex. (7) She belonged to the family of Bures of Stoke Neyland, and her son John was a witness with Sir Robert de Bures to a local charter in 1312.

Matilda de BURES, Robert's sister, married Sir John de PEYTON of Boxford, Suffolk, where she was buried in 1287. She was named as the sister and heiress of Symond de BURES.
