Matthew L. Gaetz, II, a Representative from Florida; born in Hollywood, Broward County, Fla., May 7, 1982; graduated from Niceville High School, Niceville, Fla.; B.S., Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla., 2003; J.D., William & Mary Law School, Williamsburg, VA, 2007; lawyer, private practice; member of the Florida state house of representatives, 2010-2016; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fifteenth Congress (January 3, 2017-present).

Family life

In 2020, Rep. Gaetz stated that he raised Nestor Galban as a "son," though he later clarified that Nestor is neither his adoptive son nor his legal foster child, and that it's more of an informal relationship. Nestor is the younger brother of a woman Gaetz previously dated. After living with Gaetz for a few years, Nestor returned to living with his biological father. They remain involved in each other's life, and Gaetz says that "Our relationship as a family is defined by our love for each other, not by any paperwork."
