He married Elizabeth Luke (b. 1734 in Fauquier County, VA; d. 1780 in Rowan County, NC).
Matthew died in 1781 in Rowan County, North Carolina.

5. Dianna Adams, b. Jan. 22, 1767 in Virginia, d. Apr. 18, 1840 in Newton County, Mississippi, USA. Married William Johnson.
6. Rachel Adams, b.1773 in VA, d. after 1850 in Cherokee NC. She married William McConnell in Iredelle, NC and had 13 children.
7. George Adams, b. abt 1774 in VA, d. in Graves, KY.
8. Mary Adams, b. abt 1775 in VA.
9. Chloe Adams, b. 1776 in VA, d. in Madison, KY.
10. Frances Adams, b. abt 1777 in VA. Married William Heard.
