Matthew Tomlin, Sr

On Oct. 25, 1813, Matthew and July sold 2 acres of land to Ebenezer and Mahala Preston in middle Twsp., Goshen, Cape May N.J. This is the land that was willed to Matthew by his father, who died in 1804. Soon after, Matthew and Julyann, with their family, moved to Clark Co. Indiana 1820 census of Indiana shows Matthew Tomlin, age 26-44, one male 16-25 and one female 26-44. Matthew's brother Samuel and his family was also in the census for 1820, Clark Co. Indiana. Matthew and Elanor were married by a justice of the peace, Jeffery Clark Esq. in Gloucester, N.J. Marriage records in Cape May N.J., 1795-1850, F # 1289213 SLFHL. Marriage to Julyann performed by Minister of the Gospel, William Smith. Marriages to Phebe Hewett and Elanor Lathbury are recorded in "Marriages of Cape May New Jersey, 1694-1830, F.# 441460 and F.# 1289231 Probate: Will records of Clark Co., Indiana, 1811-1875, F# 1636972. This will gives all of Matthew's property to Matthew's wife, Juliana and their son Matthew. Will was dated 21 June, 1835 and probated 10 Aug. 1835.
