Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sension-5
Mathias Sension was one of two London men of the same name from the same time.[1] This Mathias was a shoemaker, who with wife Sara christened the following children at St Botolph, Bishopsgate, City of London.
- William, 23 Aug 1629; most likely the William, below, who married Susan Fullam, below.
- Eliz., 1 Nov 1631
- Sara, 1 Sep 1633
He is distinct from Matthias St John, a chandler, who with wife Mary Tinker christened children at St. Nicholas Cole Abbey, also in London.
He is also distinct from Mathew St John, son of Thomas St John and Jane Mathew.
NOTE: Suzanne St John believes that Mathew, son of Thomas and Jane, was the same as Mathias, shoemaker of Bishopsgate who married Sarah and had William, Elizabeth and Sara. I'm still trying to understand how she concluded that. Smith-32867 18:31, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Other Sensions who appear in the church records of St. Botolph Bishopsgate, include:
- Sir Paulett Senjhon who married Elizabeth Vaughn 23 Aug 1632[2]
- William Senshon, cordwainer, who married 29 Jan 1654/5 Susan Fullam "both of this parish"

- The TAG article cited above includes a postscript by the editors that reads: "Sir Paulett St. John... was the second of four sons of Oliver St. John, 4th Lord St. John of Bletsoe... and who married Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of William Paulet, grandson of St. George Paulet, a younger brother of William, 1st Marquess of Winchester... Sir Paulett... was, together with his older brother Oliver, Lord St. John of Bletsoe..." This editorial note claims that neither Mathias Sension (chandler or shoemaker) was related to this family.
