M. C. VAN BUUREN. - In his day the most brilliant and resourceful threequarter in the Transvaal. Remarkably well and strongly built, he united in his person, speed, weight, strength, dodging power and the determination to overcome every obstacle which all go to make the successful Rugby player. He was a typical player of the old school, and an ideal wing for the threequarter game.

Mauritz Christiaan Willem Egmond van Buuren, best known as Mosey, was born on 12 August 1865 in Burgersdorp.

He was a South African international rugby union player who played as a wing. He attended Diocesan College before playing provincial rugby for Western Province. He made his only international appearance for South Africa in their first ever Test, against Great Britain at the Crusader's Ground, Port Elizabeth.

Sadly van Buuren passed away on 03 October 1950 in Bedfordview at the age of 85 years old.
