Mavis Woolhouse

Nanna lived in Collie with Uncle George for many years. They lived out on Preston Road on about 5 acres. My memories of helping Nanna do the washing in the old copper and wringing out the clothes with the mangle was so much fun. I used to love going down to Nan's in the school holidays. She and Uncle George always had so much time for us kids. They would take us over to Australind crabbing in the back of the old blue ute. We would go to Glen Mervyn Dam with the boat and Uncle George would tow us behind it while we laid on an old wooden ironing board. The outside toilet was always a scarey thing in the middle of the night. Nan cheated and had a chamber pot under her bed. Staying up late and playing Snap (or Grab as Nan would often yell) and the many hours of playing radio rummy bring backs lots of happy memories.
