About Mazie Jones Parrish

Mazie M. Parrish, age 89, of Varina, passed away Friday, December 22, 2006 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, David S. Parrish Sr. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeanne P. Tate, George V. Tate Sr., David S. Parrish Jr., Katherine C. Parrish, Suzanne P. Bulifant, Henry F. Bulifant IV, Kathy P. Seebeck, Brian W. Seebeck, Mazie Jane P. Wargo, Michael J. Wargo; her grandchildren, Robert E. Short Jr., Temple S. Womack, Henry F. Bulifant V., Allyson M. Blake, Matthew P. Stanley, Katherine E. Blake, Charlotte H. Parrish, Lane M. Stanley, Daniel M. Bulifant; and her great-grandchildren, Robert E. Short III, David P. Short, Sarah M. Short, Jordan T. Womack, Abigail M. Short, Morgan L. Womack, Thomas H. Short, Daniel J. Womack. Mrs. Parrish was a member at Fort Lee Baptist Church since 1946 serving as deaconess during World War II, WMU president and held numerous positions throughout her life at the church she loved so much. She was the Henrico County Christmas Mother 1962, Past President of the Montrose Elementary School PTA, and active member of Highland Springs Elementary School and an Honorary Member of the Parent Teacher Association. She received the Lady of the Year award in 1984 from the Richmond Battle Field Ruritan Club. She also was a member of the Naomi Chapter #4 of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Parrish served on the Woman's Auxiliary of the Patrick Henry Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Inc, the Henrico County Board of Public Welfare, and the Auxiliary Board for the Elizabeth Adam Crump Manor Nursing Home. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 27. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 28, at Fort Lee Baptist Church, 2727 Charles City Rd., Richmond, Va. 23231 Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the David S. and Mazie M. Parrish Scholarship Fund, c/o Fort Lee Baptist Church.
