Melissa Samantha Hollingsworth

Samamtha Melissa, b. May 6, 1845, Lee Co., Iowa; married William James Hollingsworthin Milton, Van Buren Co., Iowa, Dec. 9, 1859, at the age of 14. Wm. J. Hollingsworth enlisted in Co. G 3rd Iowa cavalry at Keosauqua, Jan 1, 1863, and served to the close of the Civil War, 1865. He had the honor of serving under Gen. Wm. T. Sherman on his famous march to the sea. Plasterer by trade. Moved to Kans. in 1871, but returned to Iowa in 1874. Moved to Nevada in 1884. Four children, born at Milton, Iowa; one in Kansas.
