Mercy Hinckley

Mercy Nickerson was baptised in the Brewster Church on 04 May 1746, the daughter of Ebenezer and Elizabeth (Mayo) Nickerson. [6] She married Nathaniel Hinckley.[1]
Nathaniel and Mercy migrated from Massachusetts to Vermont. The path of their movements can be followed by the births of their children as shown in "The Hinckley Family by Josiah Hinkley that is listed under sources below. Deborah, Isaac Nathaniel and Mercy were born between 1762 and 1771 in Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay. Thomas was born in Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island in 1773. The family was in Bridport, Addison, Vermont in 1776 when Rachel was born. By the Elijah's birth they were in Rutland, Rutland, Vermont. [4] [7]
On the 1790 United States Census Mercy is listed as Head of Household in Crown Point, Essex, New York. That most likely means that she was a widow. It is possible that Nathaniel died earlier in 1790 or at some time before then.[3]
This death date and place for Mercy is from WikiTree, Nickerson-882, Roxanne King as Profile Manager...from MOED8FS Data Base, Author: Maggie Moerdyke.The same death date is from the Geneanet Family Tree Index[5], but the death place is Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts rather than Westport, Essex, New York. That Index is not a primary source. I question its validity in this instance. It would seem that Mercy may have been with her sons who lived in the Essex County, New York area, but she also had a son in Harwich.
