Educated at Elizabeth College 1885-9; College No 2413; also at a private school; Sandhurst 1895-6; gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, Alexandra, Princess of Wales' Own (Yorkshire) Regiment, now the Green Howards 1897; Lieutenant 1898; Captain 1904; Major 1914; Brevet Lieut-Colonel 1919; Lieut-Colonel Commanding 1st Battalion Green Howards 1923; half-pay 1927; retired 1 July 1927. Adjutant, 1st Battalion, Royal Guernsey Light Infantry 1909-13. Served in Ireland, Gibralter, India, South Africa, Palestine, Sudan. Vice-President Portslade, Southwick and Fishergate Branch, British Legion 1927-30.
War Service: Great War 1914-18, served in India, mostly on the N.W. frontier and in temporary command of the Green Howards 1916-20.
