"The death and accompany Orphans Court records plus the Michael Debolt farm of “Clear Springs” pretty much covers all we know about Michael, III. His son, Michael, IV (1774 - 1859) continued on with the farm. He acquired it in 1796 and was already married to Abelona (Abalona) Yeager, the daughter of Joseph Yeager. The tax records for Fayette Co. from 1785 to 1799 show Michael as paying taxes in German Twp. from 1795 to 1799 indicating he had begun farming “Clear Springs” by that year. Undoubtedly, he was already married to Abelona in 1795. In 1799 Michael, IV was born, the fifth generation of Debolts in America before 1800. By the time of the 1800 Census Michael and Abelona had 4 children in their home; three were their own children under age l0, two boys and one girl. I can’t account for one boy listed between ages 16 - 26. Michael, himself was 26 and listed in the 26 to 45 age group. Ella Hostetler’s short history “Michael DeBolt and His Descendants” is interesting but full of errors. One glaring example, among many, is that she failed to list the eldest son of Michael and Abelona, Michael, IV (1799 - 1884). She also lists Michael DeBolt and a brother as coming to America in 1739. It was Michael and a son. They had identical names, Hans Mich. Diebolt! She even failed to mention the Diebolt spelling. There are many such shortcomings. I’ve corrected some dating errors in the copy of her article later in this book. See p.32 ..If using her article for research, get corroborating information whenever possible."

"The Michael Debolt, III [Walter William Dalitsch III: referring to Michael Debolt IV in this genealogy] farm of “Clear Springs” is not on this map. See map on p. 29. This farm stretched from the Leckrone road west to North Main St. in Masontown and possibly beyond. As you leave Masontown toward Sandy Bottom, you take the road to the left that leads to Leckrone. As you pass by the Honsaker farm on the right (east), all the land on the left (west) was the “Clear Springs” farm of 294 acres. In the winter you can see all the way to Main St. and beyond. The city water tower, painted blue in 1993, is in the background, and farther on are the cooling towers of the power plant on the Monongahela River. The Michael Debolt home was a red brick structure of two stories like many of the time. It is now gone. It was located back off the Leckrone road past where the Honsaker brothers have their homes along the road today. Michael Debolt acquired the farm in 1796 and lost it in 1843 during the depression that followed the Panic of 1837. He had built the brick house."

"I have some information Michael Debolt for which I do not vouch. On 10 Aug 1779, Mary Ann Thomas Debolt (probably the widow of Michael Debolt) married Michael Crisler. In January 1785, the Fayette County Orphan’s Court (in Pennsylvania) appointed Michael Chrisler to be a guardian over the persons and estates of Catherine Debolt, Michael Debolt, Mechlin (?) Debold, and Mary Debold minor children of Michael Debold during their minority. This family later settled in Beaver County, with the exception of Michael Debolt who married Abalona (Apollonia?) Yeager and settled in Fayette County. Catherine married George Mason, Mechlin (Mary Magdalene) married William Eckles, and Mary Ann married Ruel Reed."
