Micheal Sink was born in 1722 in Wuerttenberg, Germany. He immigrated to America with his father Henry Zinck when he was 3-years-old. They first settled in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. By 1753, Michael had moved to Coventry Township in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Michael was drafted into the King's army 9 June 1746 and that he started service 11 July 1746. It is unknown if he saw any combat. By 1754, he married Mary Ryel in Royal, Chester, Pennsylvania. Michael was a farmer until 1774 when he became an Innkeeper of the Swan Tavern on the road between Pottstown and Reading in Kenilworth, Coventry Township, Chester County. His tavern license shows he rented the Inn from the owner of the property. At the time, Inns became focal points for circulating sale notices, military recruitments and governmental declarations. After his death in 1775, Michael's wife Mary and son Jacob petitioned for the license and ran the tavern for several more years. In 1787, the license next passed to brothers Abraham and Stephen Sink. Within 20 years it was shutdown. Today the Swann Inn is an apartment building, according to the Chester County Historical Society.
