About Stephen Sink

A Patriot of the American Revolution for PENNSYLVANIA with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor #: A104490

Served in Revolutionary War--private from Chester Co., PA Militia as a private 3rd class, 4th company 2nd Battalion.

Stephen SINK was born Sep 1759 in Pennsylvania, Royal Colony. He died 11 Sep 1835 in Franklin Co., Virginia and was buried in Stephen Sink Cemetery, Franklin Co., Virginia. Stephen married Susan Krook. Susan was born 1752. She died 30 Dec 1843 in Franklin County, Virginia. Stephen fought during the Revolutionary War with the 4th. Company, 2nd. Batt., Chester County Militia, State of Pennsylvania. Stephen enrolled 12 August 1780 as a private in 3rd. class of the 4th Company according to the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission, Division of Public Records. After the war, Stephen eventually moved to Franklin County, Virginia in 1793 and settled on a branch of Blackwater River, where he bought 60 acres of land from Meshack Perdue. He continued buying land over the years until he accumulated over 500 acres. In the early 1800's, he built a large home which he called his mansion house.

Following is the will of Stephen Sink: I Stephen Sink of Franklin County in the State of Virginia do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form following to wit; Item 1st after all my lawful debts and funeral expenses shall be paid. I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Susan Sink the tract of land with the mansion house that I now live on, and one third of my other property, during her natural life. Item 2nd, I give and bequeath to my son Davien Sink fifty dollars in consideration of the expenses that he was at in building the house I now live in and Jessee Toney's part that intermared with my daughter Frony, excepting ten dollars that I leave said Toney. I leave my son Daniel Sink the thirty-six dollars that he is owing me as his part of my estate. The residue of my estate including the tract of land that my son Henry Sink now lives on to be sold at my death and be equally divided amongst my children here after named, viz., Henry Sink, Jacob Weaver that intermarried with my daughter Elizabeth, Jonothan Beckner that intermarried with my daughter Polly, and Asa Ward that intermarried with my daughter Susan and David Sink is alls to have the Legasey's already named, and at the death of my dearly beloved wife her part left her is to be sold and divided as above stated, vis., between my son Henry Sink, my son David Sink, Jacob Weaver, Jonothan Beckner and Asa Ward and their Heirs. Lastly, I nominate and appoint Asa Ward and Eson Sink executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me made. In witness, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this 1 Sept. 1835.
