LLOYD-CRANE, MICHELLE ANN, 59, of Louisville, died November 24, 2010 at Norton Audubon Hospital.
She was born and raised in Louisville, was an alumni of Atherton High School, earned a paralegal degree from Sullivan College and attended the University of Louisville, was a member of First Unitarian Church and for many years was a regular presenter at SUUSI.
She was a lifelong musician, sang and played guitar in Mandora with Cindy DiFazio, performed for the Mayor's Summer Scene and sang with the Sweet Adelines. She also taught and played music for children in many different settings.
She was a lifelong member of Lakeside Swim Club and a devoted lap swimmer.
A champion of a woman's right to choose, she worked for RCAR and as a clinic escort. She participated in the last three Marches for Women's Lives in D.C. and was the first volunteer trained by the Rape Crisis Center (now the Center for Women and Families).
A woman of many talents and interest, she was most recently employed as a service coordinator at the Puritan Apts. and previously held this position at the American Villages. She worked with senior citizens for the City of Louisville, worked for the Red Cross as an educator on sexually transmitted diseases, was a JCPS parent-coordinator and was a Childhood Assault Prevention trainer. She coordinated the Courier Journal's high school internship program, served as the Director of Religious Education at Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church, worked as a youth group coordinator for Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral and was a band parent supporter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fay Fishman Shostle and Morris Shostle; and her first husband, Thomas Lloyd.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie J. Crane Sr.; children, Stephanie Brian (David), Sean Turner (Lisa) and Joshua and Dylan Lloyd; grandchildren, Cameron Brian and Jacob Lloyd; stepchildren, Freddie J. Crane Jr. (Danielle), Lou Ellen Thomas, Gina Edwards, Larry Paul Crane and Brian Thomas; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
Michelle's family, friends and colleagues will always remember her patience, tolerance and compassion.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at the First Unitarian Church 809 S. 4th St., 40203. Cremation was chosen. Embry-Bosse Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
