Michiel Africanus died in 1735, the year that our ancestor Michiel was born, leaving Aletta with 5(?) children. (? because not sure how many survived to adulthood). In 1737, Aletta married Matthys Hendrik Zondagh, and they continued to farm Clara Anna's Fonteyn. Then they sold it (back to Aletta's aunt, Beatrice Verwey, for less than Michiel Afr had paid for it originally). They then bought Zondaghs Fontein not far from CA, on a back road towards Malmesbury. See pics below - first 2 CA fontein, last one Zondaghs Fontein.

Matthys Hendrik and Alida had a son in 1738 called (predictably) Matthys Hendrik. In 1765, Zondagh's Fonteyn was sold, and Michiel Heyns and Matthys Hendrik Zondagh were two of a party of settlers who moved from the Cape to the Langkloof. Matthys Hendrik got the loan farm Avontuur, and Michiel got Welgelegen and Ongelegen.
Matthys Hendrik's daughter, Engela Jacoba, married Michiel Heyns' son, another Michiel. They inherited Welgelegen. So we are also related to the Zondaghs.

There are still Zondagh's farming at Avontuur. They are very proud of the fact that they have occupied that farm continually for the last almost 250 years!!! Think they're the second oldest family farm in the country.
There are still Heyns descendants at Welgelegen (surname Johnston - William Johnston married a Heyns in 1886). See photo of entrance to Welgelegen. Unfortunately the main house at Welgelegen burnt down in 1994.
