LOUDENSLAGER, HACKENBERG, DECKER, SCHUMACHER, YODER, MUMBY, LANE, BARNES, JONES, DECKER, WATTLES, ADAMS, FULLERTON
Mildred I. LOUDENSLAGER, age 80, of 1088 Wattles Road, Sherwood, Mich., died Sept. 29, 1999 at the Birch Adult Foster Care Home in Leonidas.
She was born Nov. 16, 1918 in Colon Township, a daughter of the late G. Howard and Vernie (HACKENBERG) DECKER, and had lived all of her life in the Colon and Sherwood Area. Mildred graduated from the Colon High School with the class of 1936. On Dec. 9, 1941 she married Ralph W. LOUDENSLAGER in Constantine, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1977.
Early in her life she worked for the former Lamb Knit Goods Company of Colon and Darlings Corp. of Bronson, and for 25 years she was employed by the Colmer Division of Maxitrol of Colon, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include; 2 daughters, Dixie and Dennis SCHUMACHER of Colon and Mary Beth and Richard YODER of White Pigeon; a son, Thomas R. and Kathleen LOUDENSLAGER of South Haven; 5 grandchildren, Amy MUMBY, John W. SCHUMACHER, Gretchen LANE, Carie BARNES and Amanda LOUDENSLAGER; 2 step-grandchildren, Troy YODER and Jodie STAUFFER; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Hilda JONES and Donna DECKER, both of Colon; a brother, Dr. Norman K. DECKER of Breman, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 9 brothers; Wren O., Earl L., A Pearl, A. Eugene, Oscar F., Lloyd H., Clair M., Glenn G. and Robert L. DECKER; and 3 sisters, Thelma W. WATTLES, Ila Mae ADAMS and Margaret A. FULLERTON.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Schipper Funeral Home Ltd. in Colon. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home with David J. Farrell officiating. Interment will follow in South Colon Cemetery.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Three Rivers Hospice or the South Colon Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
