The death of Mildred Theresa (Stone) Sampson occurred, peacefully, June 5, 2017, at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, NS. The daughter of the Late: John L. and Mary Jane (Gracie) Stone, she was born July 30, 1936, in Lynche’s River, Cape Breton. Mildred “Millie” married Benedict Sampson, of River Bourgeois, NS, in November, 1955. They lived in Toronto for many years, where she worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia, and then Toronto Dominion Trust. They returned to Cape Breton permanently in October, 1970. Mildred was a devoted wife and Mother, an amazing cook and gardener. She loved to be surrounded by family, friends, good food, and music. She loved to laugh. Her flower gardens were incredible, often causing travelers to stop and admire her work at her home in Lynche River. All of this ensured she had a very happy life. After moving home she was employed at Richmond Villa, retiring after 26 years of service. Millie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Benedict, Lynche’s River, only daughter, Kimberley, Halifax, and brother Richard (Teresa) Stone, Grand Greve, many nieces and nephews.
