Millie Fisher

After high school, Millie attended Lille University to study French before going to St. Hugh's,Oxford to study librarianship.Millie then went teaching for a year but did not like it. She married Eric Fisher (a schoolteacher) when she was 21. Millie then did a typing/book-keeping course and looked after the accounts of the family haulage business from 1934-1944.Millie lived at Wolstanton, The Westlands(Newcastle) before moving to Brown Edge when Eric became headmaster there in 1945. Millie was Librarian at Orme Girl's School for several years which entailed a 10-mile bus journey. On Eric's retirement, they moved back to The Westlands in 1968 but Eric died soon afterwards. The summer vacation was always spent at Mortehoe in N.Devon.
