About Minna Goldschmidt
We have some discrepancy as to Minna Goldschmidt's maiden name. We know that she was the sister of Moritz Stern. This is indicated in the family history, in Gerson Goldschmidt's book, On a Silken Thread, and in the obituary for Bernhard Goldschmidt published in Nov 1924 in Der Israelite, which refers to Moritz Stern as his schverer. The marriage record of Moritz Goldschmidt and Gitta Plaut in Guxhagen lists Moritz's mother as Minna Stern. However, in Moritz Goldschmidt's sefer chaim, he list the yarzheit of his mother as "My Dear Mother Moras Merla Bas Moshe Lang Died Dec. 1939" In addition, the Yad Vashem listing for Minna Goldschmidt says nee Lang. Gerson Goldschmidt is the person who filed the memorial with Yad Vashem. Minna's death certificate also list Moses Lang as her father.
One hypothesis is that Minna Lang's father is Moshe Lang and that he died and Minna's mother remarried Isaac Stern. We do not know whether Moritz was a half brother to Minna or whether both were children of Moshe Lang but were adopted by Jacob Stern and used the family name Stern.
