Biographical Summary:
"...Miriam Works Young (1801-1832), first wife of Brigham Young, was a daughter of Asa and Jerusha Works, residents of Aurelius, Cayuga County, New York. Miriam was married to Brigham Young October 8, 1824. Both were attendants of the Methodist Church.
In the spring of 1829, Miriam removed with her husband to Mendon, Monroe County, where the learned of Mormonism and were she was baptized in 1832. She was the mother of two children, both girls. She died of consumption on September 8, 1832, at the home of Heber C. Kimball at Mendon, New York...."
