(son of Asa Works and Abigail Marks of Bennington, Vermont). Born October 5, 1821, Aurelius, Cayuga County, New York. Came to Utah in 1847.
Married: Phoebe Jones April 15, 1858, at Salt Lake City (daughter of John and Mary Jones), who was born November 14, 1825, and came to Utah with Captain Jones company.
Their children:
James Marks, Jr., born April 6, 1859, died January 1, 1888;
Edwin Mosiah born December 28, 1861, married Margret Maria Munk, married Hannah Cordelia Munk, married Matilda Lindberg;
Mary A. A., married Nels Benson.
Family home Manti, Utah.
