Mitchell Vanderaa, age 85, of South Holland, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010. Mr. Vanderaa is survived by two sons: Scott (Amanda) and Craig (Janice) Vanderaa; Five grandchildren: Chaia, Ellie, Joel, Ben and Owen; one sister: the late Marie (late Art) Haak; two brothers: Herman (late Lela) Vanderaa and the late Stan (Tena) Vanderaa. Mitch was preceded in death by his wife: Joan Vanderaa (nee Moorberg) in 2005. Visitation Monday, May 24, 2010 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt. 6/159th St.) South Holland, IL with services conducted by Rev. Hank Elgersma. Mr. Vanderaa was a W.W. II Navy Veteran, a member of the South Holland Lions Club, and was a retired book binder with Rand McNally Co. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (8430 West Bryn Mawr Suite 800 Chicago, IL 60631.)
