Mrs Jennings Dies at Age of 89 Years

Mrs Mary Jennings, a pioneer of this section, died Friday morning, January 19 at the home of her daughter, Mrs Baxter Neel, 4 miles northwest of Calico Rock. She was 89 years of age.

Deceased was born in Bedford County, Tenn., August 19, 1850. In early life she was married to Ira Alexander, who passed away a few years after his marriage. In 1888 she was married to R. E. Jennings, who died many years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Baxter Neel; two step-sons, George Jennings of Calico Rock and Elijah Jennings of Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Although bedfast for nine years, she bore her burden bravely. She was converted early in life and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Valley.
