About Montague Weinberg
The Bournemouth Hebrew Congregation has been saddened to learn of the death in Israel — where he had moved on retirement — of its administrator and secretary for 35 years, Monty Weinberg.
Born in London and educated in commercial subjects, he worked in several office jobs before serving in the RAF during the Second World War.
After the war, he moved with his family to Bournemouth, but shortly after returned to London for an administrative post at the United Synagogue. From 1950, when he was appointed to the Bournemouth Hebrew Congregation, until his retirement in 1985, he administered the regular synagogue business, as well as organising shechitah, the chevrah kadisha and fundraising.
