Mordechai Berdichevsky

Mordechai Berdichevsky was born to Menachem & Yente(Yael) Berdichevsky in Dubova, Ukraine. When he was nine years old his father, grandfather and most of the town's Jews were murdered in the 1919 pogrom led by Petlura's men. He escaped from the Ukraine with his mother and siblings and arrived in Palestine (Israel) in spring of 1922. Being a communist he had to leave Palestine or face being put in jail by the British. He left for France to study and met his wife Miriam with whom he had 2 boys.When When WWII broke they left their children in the country side with a farmers couple and joined the underground. They fought for five years living in the forests until the end of the war. They have reunited with their children and immigrated to Israel in 1950. He passed away in 1968 in Israel at the age of 60.
