About Moricz Moritz Mayer

Godfather; Fulop Lowy from Banska Bystrica

Radvaň is a borough of Banská Bystrica, located south-west of the city centre. Until 1964 it was a separate village, when it was merged into village Radvaň-Kráľová, which in turn was made a part of Banská Bystrica in 1966. It was first mentioned in 1263. The annual Radvaň fairs on 8 September are held since 1650, transferred in the 20th century into Banská Bystrica.

Jozef Kalnovič and Václav Kunc built Nebeská Blecha in Banská Bystrica. Václav Kunc was the head of the Bratia Mayer car workshop in Radvan. Several young enthusiasts such as Ján Martinec, Václav Hrobský, Palo Sumrák and others helped with the construction. Construction began in June 1938 and the aircraft was ready by the end of September. The two-cylinder Tatra engine was initially used for propulsion, but it was too weak. In 1939, a four-cylinder Henderson motorcycle engine with an output of about 32 hp was built into the aircraft. The aircraft was exhibited at an aviation day at Tri Duby Airport. The plane never took off and was only used for taxiing on the plateau in Selcie and the meadows under Kopa between Majer and Šalková.
During the war, Nebeská Blecha was built by a group of activists working on the machine industry in Banská Bystrica. Anton Kralovič, Aladár Adamec, Jozef Revallo, Milan Lesík and brothers Július and Viliam Hudec worked in the group. Nebeská Blecha was powered by a Persy engine obtained from the crashed Zlin Z-XII.157, from which other parts were also used. The aircraft was displayed at the beginning of May 1941 at a promotional exhibition in Banská Bystrica.
At this point I will allow myself a little reflection. If we look at the available data on Slovak Blech [8], [9] and [11], it looks like three separate stories at first glance. Nevertheless, it does not seem to me that three Heavenly Flea were created in Banská Bystrica in the space of a few years. I received a photograph from Mr. Ladislav Vejvoda, which allegedly shows Blech Václav Kunc [8]. Nevertheless, it seems that on the website of AK Banská Bystrica, the people mentioned in Blecha [11] are moving in front of the same aircraft in the photographs.

And thirdly - she Blecha MiTrPu, built by Miloš Mičík: Jaromír Schindler recalls in L+K 1972/10 that he and Mičík welded their first glider in 1937 in Banská Bystrica in the Mayer brothers' car workshop, where Václav Kunc, again the author, worked those Flea [8]. Are they just coincidences?
