About Moritz (Moses) Knöpfelmacher
Moritz [Moses] Knopfelmacher was born in 1830, the son of the elderly Joachim Knopfelmacher (1765-1847) by his third wife, Katharina (Hartmann) Knöpfelmacher (b. 1797). Moritz came to Boskovice, Moravia in 1857 from Mahr. Weisskirchen (Hranice). In 1860, he applied for a license to establish a saloon in house #68 in Boskovice's "Jewish town". He operated a pub there until 1893 when he "gave it up on account of old age". For many years, Moritz and his family resided in household #26 in the Christian section of Boskovice.
