Far too old to be the daughter of Robert Melton - Mourning Melton was born in ~1743 in Brunswick, Virginia. Her parents were Robert Melton (1696 - 1759) and Ann Hall (1710 - 1755). Her father asked that she be committed to the care of Mr. Robert Cate, Jr. in his will. The bond was 50 pounds and the bondsman was listed as Thomas Cate. Mourning's mother had already passed away and with her father's passing, it was felt that she was to young to take care of herself.
