Rabbi Spitz served as Rabbi for Congregation Emanu-El, Milkwaukee, Wisconsin from 1872-1878. The congregation would eventually become Congregation Emanu-El b'nai Jeshurun (after 1927)

Rabbi Spitz was the Editor and Publisher and founder of THE JEWISH VOICE during the life of that weekly paper from 1888-1920. THE JEWISH VOICE ceased publication after Spitz died in 1920.
