About Moses Jacob Bonn, z. Hirsch
Sprinz, the “first wife” of Moses Bonn ffb-653, probably did not exist. Moses’s mother, Sprinz, apparently shows in one of the records in a way which makes it look like it is Moses’s wife who is being mentioned.
The reference which caused Ettlinger to think Moses Bonn had a first wife named Sprinze was a 1549 house list which is not included in Andernacht. The likelihood is very strong that this was one of those entries where the wording was ambiguous. The house was presumably the Hirsch (the only place where Moses or his mother lived), and the Sprinze mentioned in this list (whether she was Moses Bonn’s mother or wife) was marked as “ill”. If the Sprinze who was ill was Moses’s wife, where was his mother? and where was her new husband, Jacob Landau? They should also have been in the Hirsch at that time. And if the ill Sprinze is the mother, then it is she who was misinterpreted as being Moses’s wife. But the best news for us is that even under the remote possibility that there had been a first wife named Sprinze, she died so soon that all of Moses’s children, including (Lea) Gutlen, were by Vogel Zunz.
