The Arbogast brothers afterward returned to France, but subsequently returned to the states, and both married women of German extraction. Moses moved from Pendleton County to Randolph County some time between 1820 and 1830. Records indicate he had numerous children with numerous women. Some while married to another. 1
Moses was married four times, fathered eleven children and was a step-father to nineteen children. His first wife was Sara Elizabeth (Armentrout) Zickafoose. He was 19 and she was 35 and widowed. Sara's first husband was Elias Zickafoose and they had five children. Moses and Sara were married 24 Oct 1819 in Pendleton Co, Virginia and had four children, Hannah, Priscilla, Allen and Nancy before she died about 1833.
His second marriage was to Margaret Wamsley 25 Oct 1834 in Randolph Co, Virginia. This was her first marriage. They had a total of seven children, Martha, Jefferson, Rachel, Daniel, Sarah, Moses and John. Martha died in 1853 at the age of 44.
Moses third marriage was to Matilda Ware who was 49 and widowed. Malilda's first husband was William Ware (no relation) and they had six children. This was Moses third marriage and Matilda's second. They had no children together. Matilda died in 1864 at the age of 58.
Moses fourth marriage was to Matilda's niece, Eleanor Elizabeth (Ware) Channell. He was 66 and she was 33 and widowed. They were married 11 Sep 1865 in Randolph Co, West Virginia. Eleanor's first husband was Jesse Channell and they had eight children. Moses and Eleanor had no children together.
