Regarding the uncle of the same name:
- BIRTH DATE: There is no known birth record. Researchers are divided, saying 1697/8, 1715, or 1728. However: --> Moses first appears in legal records in 1752. --> Moses was not an executor of his father's will, however, Edward and John were executors. These are good arguments for a LATER birth date.
- MIDDLE INITIAL: Moses Bass had no middle initial. The "N" on his documents is his "mark," or the symbol he used as a signature. (Moses Bass was illiterate.)
- NO CHILDREN?: Moses Bass had no children, per a statement made by his nephew, Wright Bass: "Moses Bass departed this life without issue."
- DEATH DATE: Although his will is dated 28 Feb., 1777, he was alive in August 1781, during the Battle of Bass's Mill (see story below). He was dead by [date?] 1785, when his will was recorded in the Charleston Co., SC Deedbook, and certainly by November, 1785, nephew Wright made a statement acknowledging he was his heir-at-law because Moses Bass had no children.
