Pvt. Moses Lyon is the son of Benjamin Lyon and Mary (Condit) Lyon. He married Mary Harris and had the following children: James Lyon, Henry Lyon, Nathaniel Lyon, Moses Lyon, Richard Lyon, Hannah Lyon-Harrison, Abigail Lyon-Grummon, Mary Lyon, and Obadiah Lyon.
Moses served in the Revolutionary War as a private under Capt. Abraham Lyons Company, 2nd Regiment Essex County, New Jersey Militia. Four of his sons, also, served in the same Regiment (James, Henry, Nathaniel, & Moses). Moses served as a drummer boy.
