Upon the death of his father, Moses's guardian was James McCuiston, Sr. When, James Sr. died, James Jr., Moses's Uncle, became his guardian. This is deducted from a court settlement in the Guilford County, North Carolina Court Records, dated 6 August 1772: Jane Blayor (late widow of Robert McCuiston, Dec'd) by her husband Thomas Blayor, and settle with the court. Widow's third (29-6-5 pounds) leaving (58-15-4 pounds) for the three ophans of said Robert McCuistion, deceased, giving each (19-18-1 pounds), and it is handed over to Moses' guardian, James McCuiston.
