About Murrough na hÉirne O'Brien, 4th Baron of Inchiquin
Murrough McMurrough O'Brien was the 4th Baron Inchiquin. He was the son of Murrough McDermot O'Brien, 3rd Baron Inchiquin and Annabelle Nugent. He married Margaret Cusack, daughter of Sir Thomas Cusack, and had one son; Dermod O'Brien, 5th Baron Inchiquin.
He was shot in 1597 when fording the River Erne near Sligo during the Irish wars. When half across the ford, a bullet passed under one arm and out at the other. He fell from his horse and drowned.
He was buried at Donegal Abbey and was succeeded by his son, then only 2 years old.

Murrough MacMurrough MacDermot MacMurrough O'Brien, Baron Inchiquin, was on horse back in the the depth of the river outside his soldeirs allowing them to pass through the strong current. But destiny permited that he was hit by the people of O'Donnell with a connon ball in the arm pit in an opening in his armour plate. so it passed through him. He fell from his horse and was immediately drowned. He was much lamented by the English and Irirsh on account of the greatness of his wealth and the nobility of his blood.
