Myrle L. Foist, 83, of Silver City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in Gila Regional Medical Center [Grant County]. The funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Swan Street in Silver City with Bishop Glen Stailey officiating. Interment will be in Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Myrle was born July 23, 1924, in Bingham Canyon, Utah. She was the daughter of Guy and LoRee (Deakin) Beckstrom. She married Robert Leslie Foist on June 7, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert; three daughters; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two brothers, Lagrande Beckstrom and infant Darwin Beckstrom. During World War II, she worked in a factory on P-38s and also volunteered in numerous hospitals as an aide. Myrle worked for many years as a sales clerk for Kmart in Silver City. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, having made many afghans and quilts for her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and would make casseroles for any occasion. She also was president of the PTA in Lark, Utah. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
