About N.N. Hastings
Not the daughter of this Sir Henry ll de Hastings, of Ashill
John married HASTINGS, daughter of Henry HASTINGS and Unknown, in 1270 in Waldgrave, Northamptonshire, England. (HASTINGS was born in 1251 in Waldgrave, Northamptonshire, England.)
John de Waldegrave, of Walgrave in Northmaptonshire, appears in old visitation pedigrees of the family, which later became very important. They reported that he married a member of a Hastings family whose arms were supposedly "or, a maunch gules", or else "gules, a maunch ermine".[1]
Research notes
It is said there was an earlier John de Waldegrave who served as Sheriff of London in 1205, and is sometimes said to be a member of this family.[14][15]
"John de Waldegrave, who was sheriff of London 1205, an office then of great power and trust; ...by his wife, daughter of sir Henry Hastings, knt. had issue Walter de Waldegrave..."[1][2]
Comment: dates do not match for his daughter to have been a mother of Walter Waldegrave dead in 1380.
