NN Knopp

William Knopp (married in 1584 to Elizabeth Reade) has been confused with other men named William Knapp or William Knop. He should not be confused with the William Knopp, 1580-1658, son of Thomas Knopp and Alice Howlat, who married Judith Tue and Priscilla Akers.

The origins of this William Knopp are not known, but various publications have identified him as the son of a John Knapp and Martha Blois or the son of Robert Knapp and Margaret Poley.[1][2] There is no evidence for either of these sets of parents.

Also note: There is no relationship between this family and the family of Nicholas Knapp, immigrant to Watertown and Stamford.[3]
