Not the same as Mary "Polly" Campbell
Nancy Sherley was born 1762 in Wales, and died 1850-1860 in KY. She married John Campbell on 31 Aug 1789 in Shenandoah Co., VA. He was born Abt 1755 in Scotland.
The 1810 Clay County census shows John Campbell #2, age 45 and over, with three sons under age 10, one son age 10-15, two daughters under age 10, one daughter age 10-15, and one female age 45 and over, presumably his wife, Nancy (possibly Sherley or Shirley). I have been able to identify four sons, John C. Jackson, William, Caleb, and Lewis. This John C. “Jackson” Campbell is often confused with John ”Jackson” Campbell, son of John Campbell #1.

8. John #2 is no longer on the census in 1820. Family legend has it that he left the area for places unknown and never returned. There is on this census a family headed by Nancy Campbell with one son age 10-15, one son age 16-18, two sons age 19-25, two daughters, one under age 10 and one age 10-15, and herself, age 45 and over. I take this to be Nancy Shirley, wife of John #2 Campbell. The boy’s ages seem to fit very well with sons John C. Jackson, William, Lewis, and Caleb.
20. A Noble family member, who’s name I withhold for privacy reasons, told me that her grandmother, Frankie Gwin, born 1889, told this family member that Frankie’s grandmother was a Shirley, and that when she got mad, she spoke in a foreign language. I feel that it could have been the Welsh language.
The parents of John Zachariah Campbell (b. Scotland) and Nancy Sherley (b. Wales) are all unknown. Contrary to what is listed here.

One more point:The John Campbell who is the ancestor of most of the Breathitt Co. Campbells is NOT the same John Campbell who married Nancy Sherley in Shenandoah Co., VA in 1789.Those two apparently migrated elsewhere since their descendants seem to be known. It's true that the Breathitt Co. John was married to a Nancy, but her maiden name remains unknown
