Nancy Harding Combs was the daughter of Henry Harding II and Wilmouth George. She married John Combs, son of Mason Combs and Sarah Harding Richardson. They came to Perry Co. with their sons around 1795. They settled at the mouth of White Oak Creek which is now called Defiance.

Nancy Harding-Combs is the daughter of Henry Harding III and Wilmouth George. When Nancy Harding was born on July 6, 1741, her father, Henry, was 21, and her mother, Wilmouth, was 20. She married John Combs in 1750 in Frederick, Virginia. They had eight children in 10 years. John's marriage to Nancy HARDING is documented by the Shenandoah Co, VA wills of both of her parents, the 1783 Shenandoah Court Minutes regarding settlement due John Combs from his HARDING brothers-in-law, and the 1855 Perry Co, KY death record of their son, Elijah. Also note that the Combs and Harding lands in Shenandoah were adjacent; and that no other Combs are found recorded with Henry HARDING II other than John (for whom Henry HARDING made bail in 1779); and that both John and his son, Mason, are later found in Montgomery Co, VA adjacent to his brother-in-law, Henry HARDING III. : Note: #H00012[4]

Biography

Nancy was born before 1739 probably in Stafford County, Virginia Colony. She is the daughter of Henry Harding and Wilmoth George. She passed away about 1819 in Perry County, Kentucky.

Nancy Margaret Harding and her husband, John W. Combs Sr., had the following children: (1.) Biram Combs; (2.) William Combs; (3.) Mason Combs; (4.) Nicholas Combs; (5.) John Combs; (6.) Henry Combs; and four others.
Marriage

Nancy married John Combs about 1755/6, probably in Frederick County, Virginia Colony.[1][2] They had eight sons: William (1757), John, (b 1761), Nicholas (b before 1764), Biram (b 1760-66), Mason (b before 1765), Henry (b 1765-68), Elijah (b 1770), and George (b before 1774). These sons are referred to in some documents as "the eight" or "the original eight" brothers who settled in Perry County, Kentucky from Holston River, Virginia.[3]
