Nancy Ann Hoover; born 25 August 1802 in Pennsylvania; died 6 September 1879; married John Flegal,64 (also spelled Flegle, Flegel) born circa 1796 in Maryland; died in Brady, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania in April 1870 (re U.S, Federal Census Mortality Schedule Index). In 1850, the family was living in Brady, Clearfield County, where John was listed as a blacksmith.65 In 1870, the family was in Penn Township, Clearfield County, where John was enumerated as a Methodist preacher (page 1133).
Children of John and Ann (Hoover) Flegal known from the 1850 and 1870 federal censuses (all born in Pennsylvania): (a) Loren Flegal, born circa 1828. (b) Jane Flegal, born circa 1834. In 1870, Jane, single, was living with her parents (c) Summerfield Flegal, born circa 1836. In 1870, Summerfield, single and living with his parents, was listed as a blacksmith. According to "American Civil War Soliers," Summerfield enlisted as a private in the Union Army, Company C, 84th Infantry Regiment, Pennsylvania. (d) Edward Flegal, born circa 1838. (e) Josephine Flegal, born circa 1841. (f) Louisa Flegal, born circa 1845.
