About Nancy Kayaanra
NANCY KAYAANRA (aka NANCY KAYAARA)
Nancy Kayaanra is the daughter of Ignace and Margaret Kayaanra British Columbia, Marriage Registrations It seems likey too that she is the sister of Pierre Ignace, whose marriage registration certificate identifies him as the son of Ignace and Marguerite Kayaanra British Columbia, Marriage Registrations Pierre Ignace was born in 1855 or 1856, and married Sophie Logan in 1880 but he is probably also the man of the same name who married Angelique Filardeau in 1914. Angelique is identified as a widow in her marriage certificate and Pierre is classified as a bachelor, rather than a widower, but his place of birth is given as Colville in Stevens County, Washington, USA, and this tends to confirm that his parents, identified simply as Ignace and Marguerite, are the couple who are afterwards identified as Ignace and Margueritte Kayaanra British Columbia, Marriage Registrations It seems then that Nancy's parents should be identified with the Colville Indians of the same name who came north to Kamloops with three infant children, two sons and one daughter, in 1857 or 1858, possibly, although not certainly, in the aftermath of the Yakima Indian War.
Nancy Kayaanra was born at Kamloops in British Columbia, Canada, in 1861 or 1862 British Columbia, Marriage Registrations For confirmation of her age see the Canadian census of 1881. 1881 Census of Canada
