About Naomi Jensen

Naomi "None" Asay Anderson Jensen was born Thursday, February 3, 1898 in Hatchtown, Utah to Jerome Asay and Nancy Jane Meeks. She graduated from Emery Stake Academy in Castle Dale, Utah.

She married Ervin Andrew Anderson on Wednesday, January 7, 1920 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of three children: Chad, Doreen, and Valoy. Ervin preceded her in death on Thursday, November 19, 1925. She married Hyrum Jensen on Wednesday, August 19, 1931 in Castle Dale, Utah. They had two children together: Janone and Shanna. They were later divorced.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP).

Naomi was a talented writer. She served as a newspaper correspondent for many years for the Emery County Progress, Salt Lake Tribune, and Deseret News.

Naomi passed away of causes incident to age on Thursday, May 7, 1987 at Emery County Nursing Home in Ferron, Utah.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 1987 in the Castle Dale Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 35 East Main Street in Castle Dale. A viewing was held prior to the services at the church from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Naomi was laid to rest following the conclusion of the funeral services in the Castle Dale City Cemetery.

Summary of funeral services: Funeral services were held under the direction of Bishop Bruce K. Anderson. The family prayer was offered by Chad K. Anderson. The prelude and postlude music was offered by Velda Jensen. The invocation was offered by Tom Bardsley. Musical numbers performed included: "Beyond The Sunset," which was performed by Shanna Bates, Collette, Karla, and Jolene, and accompanied by Joe Bates; and "Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam," which was performed by Naomi's great-grandchildren and accompanied by Carol Ann Johnson. Speakers included: Jessie Jane Brandenburg and Bishop Scott Johansen. The benediction was offered by Bob Bardsley. The grave was dedicated by Jack Asay. Pallbearers included: Ervin Cox, Ken Cox, Bob Bardsley, Tom Bardsley, Richard Hansen, Jeff Asay, Kirk Asay, and Kim Hansen. Honorary pallbearers included: Lyle Asay, James C. Asay, Lynn Asay, Jim Richards, Jeff Bardsley, Wayne Richards, Greg Asay, Rodney Asay, Allred Bates, Kory Hansen, and James Bardsley.
