About Naomi Mikell
In the 1900 Georgia census, we find Naomi Griffis, age 44, living as a servant in the household of James A. Strickland, owner of Strickland Brother's Store in Blackshear, Georgia. In a picture of the Strickland home taken on July 24, 1900, we see Naomi seated on the front porch. She married Mr. Mikell in 1912.. According to her death certificate she died from paralysis. George W. Murray, her brother-in-law and husband to her sister, Sarah Isabell Griffis Murray, was the informant on her death certificate. It is known that she is buried in the Big Creek Cemetery in K'Ville, Georgia, but it is believed that her grave is unmarked.
